Apple was just matching Google’s market cap around a year ago for the first time, but now, it is around 40% bigger than Google.
What’s next? It is only about 10% (8.4% at the time of this writing) smaller than Microsoft by market cap. And it is catching up fast.
Whilst I know this is not a complete measure of the size and strength of the company, it remains significant. The market is a good measure of the perceived value of the company.
What it means is, not long from now, Apple will be seen as the largest tech company in the world.
30 years on, the fight with Microsoft continues.
*Update* End of trading 2010/05/26 – Apple passed Microsoft by market cap for the first time since 1989.
